preliminary studies
At LOOP we believe that a good start is key for a successful project result. This initial phase is the first interaction with the client, looking to establish the foundations of working together as a team as well as understanding needs, aspirations and requirements for carrying out a project.
In Situ. During this phase we conduct a Site Analysis in order to gather physical, cultural and bioclimatic characteristics such as topography, former uses of the site, services, biodiversity, architectural character, soil and others. Understanding the context and history of a space is crucial for building a more integral architectonic design.
Conceptual Design
Conceptual Design is the core of the design process, in which the big idea for the project is fleshed out. The design concept can be a word, a belief, or an idea that is present throughout the entire creative process. It helps maintain the vision alive throughout the project phases, informing any decisions being made. This abstract idea is then realized through more tangible forms, such as structure, function, and material.
Conceptual Design is important in order to successfully build a project narrative that keeps the design on track.
Schematic Design
Putting ideas to paper. Schematic design is the first glimpse of plans, elevations, and details for the project. During this phase, the team transforms the project requirements and design concept into architectural and spacial design.
Schematic design is a creative part of the building process, where ideas are explored and developed. Visual representations like collages or sketches are also used to articulate spacial concepts and architectural systems.
Construction Documents
In this phase, we work to perfect the design so we can create a final set of drawings to provide all the necessary information for the building process.
The construction documents are a guide for the teams collaborating on the build, used to effectively coordinate the architectural, structural, mechanical, civil and electrical systems within the construction. These documents are also necessary for permit approval from the city and local authorities.
Construction and site visits
Transitioning from lines to construction. This is the final phase of the building process: the construction of the project.
Our team is involved throughout the entire construction process with regularly scheduled site visits to check on the progress of the work, be able to anticipate needs, and monitor the quality.
